FeiyuTech AF2 Follow Focus
FeiyuTech AF2 Follow Focus | Make focus changes deliberate
Shift focus deliberately during a video take, so attention moves from one part of the scene to another instead of drifting. The FeiyuTech AF2 Follow Focus is a tripod accessory for video makers who want to guide those changes with intention. It’s best suited to planned shots where a clear start and end point for focus help tell the story: for example, moving attention from a foreground detail to a person behind it, or following a subject as it moves through a scene. Before recording, choose the two points you want the viewer to notice and rehearse the transition between them; that simple preparation gives a focus change a purpose. The AF2’s product name identifies it as a follow focus, while its category places it among tripod accessories. Those details make it relevant when you’re putting together a support-based video setup and want focus control to be part of the shot, rather than an afterthought. Its value is in that focused role, not in adding camera support or changing the scene itself.
Specialist Note
Focus can wander at exactly the moment you want the viewer to notice something else; the AF2 is intended to make that shift a deliberate part of the shot. As a follow focus, it’s aimed at changing focus during video, so plan a clear first point and a second point, then rehearse the move before rolling. That’s useful for a close foreground detail giving way to a person in the background, or for drawing attention to a subject moving through the frame. Its classification as a tripod accessory makes sense for a setup built around supported shots. I’d think of it specifically as a focus tool: it won’t replace the tripod or support the camera on its own.
