Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 67mm ND 0.9 (3stops) Filter
Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 67mm ND 0.9 Filter | Three stops for longer exposures
Longer shutter speeds in daylight and more room to use a wide aperture are what this Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 67mm ND 0.9 Filter helps you achieve. It reduces the light reaching your camera by three stops, so you can use a longer exposure without changing the scene’s lighting. That’s useful for giving moving water a softer look, blurring cloud movement, or keeping a wider aperture in brighter conditions. It suits landscape photographers and anyone who wants more control over exposure in daylight, without relying on a much darker filter. The ND 0.9 rating tells you the strength of the filter; in practical terms, it’s a fixed three-stop reduction. Choose it when that amount of light reduction fits the effect you have in mind.
Specialist Note
The Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND 67mm ND 0.9 Filter is best for stretching exposure by three stops in daylight. Its 67mm size means it’s for a lens with a matching 67mm filter thread, so check that detail when choosing a filter. For a stream, if your unfiltered exposure is 1/125 sec, keeping the same ISO and aperture gives you roughly 1/15 sec with this filter; a tripod helps keep the rest of the scene sharp. It also gives moving clouds more time to blur. The strength is fixed at three stops, so it’s a good fit when that reduction suits your plan, rather than when you need to vary it.
