H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/4 Filter 67-82mm
H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/4 Filter 67-82mm | Gentle glow for highlights
A portrait with a bright window behind the subject, or a night scene full of small lights, can look crisp but a little stark. The H&Y RevoRing White Mist 1/4 Filter is made to soften that impression, giving bright highlights a gentler glow while keeping the scene recognisable. It suits photographers and filmmakers who want a softer, more atmospheric rendering without adding a heavy effect. The RevoRing format covers filter sizes from 67 to 82 mm, so it can serve lenses with different front diameters within that span. The 1/4 strength gives you a defined diffusion effect; it’s a creative choice rather than a neutral protective filter. Use it when you want light sources to bloom softly or skin to appear less sharply rendered. If you prefer crisp, high-contrast detail throughout the frame, this look may not be the one you want.
Specialist Note
The adjustable ring spanning 67–82 mm is the practical detail here: it lets one filter cover lenses with different front filter sizes across that range, rather than limiting it to one diameter. The White Mist 1/4 strength gives you a noticeable softening effect, so I’d consider it for backlit portraits or evening scenes with signs and lamps. For a portrait, try keeping a bright source just inside or near the edge of the frame; for a city scene, let a few lights show against darker surroundings to make the glow visible. It’s a deliberate look, and it can soften fine detail, so I’d leave it off when you want a clean, crisp rendering.
