JJC Ultra-Slim CPL Filter 40.5mm

JJC Ultra-Slim CPL Filter 40.5mm | Manage reflections with a circular polariser

JJC Ultra-Slim CPL Filter 40.5mm is a circular polarising filter with a slim profile, made for photographers whose lenses take a 40.5mm filter. It’s useful when reflections are getting in the way of the subject: think shop windows, water, or shiny leaves in a garden. A polariser can reduce some reflected glare, and rotating it lets you adjust the effect as you compose. It can also deepen the appearance of a blue sky, depending on the angle you’re shooting from. That makes it a practical filter for everyday outdoor photography as well as scenes with glass or bright surfaces. The slim design keeps the filter’s profile low on the lens. It’s a straightforward way to manage reflections in-camera, rather than relying on editing to address them later.

Using a polariser

For reflected glare, frame your subject and turn the filter gradually while looking through the camera; the reflection changes as you rotate it. The effect is most apparent on reflective surfaces, and the sky effect varies with your shooting direction, so it’s worth adjusting the filter for each composition. A polariser also reduces the light reaching the camera, so keep an eye on your exposure, particularly in dim conditions or when you need a fast shutter speed. Its effect is adjustable, not an on-or-off setting.
