Kaiser Flash Diffusor Nikon Speedlight SB400
Kaiser Flash Diffusor Nikon Speedlight SB400 | Softer flash light for the SB-400
This Kaiser diffuser is made for one specific flash, the Nikon Speedlight SB400, rather than being a general lighting accessory. It suits SB-400 owners who want to soften the look of direct flash for nearby subjects, especially in everyday indoor photographs. A diffuser alters the flash light before it reaches the subject, which can help make its effect less stark. Its best use is simple: take the edge off direct flash when photographing people or small details at close range. It’s a straightforward accessory for photographers who already use the SB-400 and want to adjust the character of its light without changing flash systems. The product name identifies the intended flash, so this isn’t a general-purpose diffuser for other Speedlights. Think of it as a focused addition to an SB-400 setup, with light diffusion as its single job.
Using the diffuser
For an indoor portrait, use the diffuser with the SB-400 when direct flash looks too hard on your subject. It can also be useful for close tabletop photographs where a bare flash creates an abrupt-looking highlight. The result will depend on the room and the subject, so treat diffusion as a way to soften the flash’s effect, not as a replacement for choosing where the light falls. This accessory is most relevant when you’re already happy using the SB-400 and want a simple way to modify its light.
Specialist Note
The Kaiser Flash Diffusor Nikon Speedlight SB400 is for softening the SB-400’s direct flash. Its name points to the Nikon Speedlight SB400, which makes this a specific match for photographers already using that flash, not a general diffuser to buy for an unspecified setup. I’d consider it for indoor family portraits or close tabletop subjects when the flash looks too direct; use it with the SB-400 to diffuse the light before it reaches the subject. The useful thing here is the focused purpose. It won’t change where the flash is aimed, so it works best when you’re happy with the light direction and simply want a softer effect.
