Kase Revolution Plus R-GND 0.9 77 mm
Kase Revolution Plus R-GND 0.9 77 mm | Balance bright horizons in-camera
For a landscape with a bright horizon and darker land, a graduated ND filter can help bring the two parts closer together in the same frame. The Kase Revolution Plus R-GND 0.9 77 mm is an ND filter for photographers who want to manage that brightness difference while making the exposure, rather than relying entirely on later editing. Its 0.9 density marking identifies the strength, while 77 mm gives you the size to match to your filter setup. It’s most relevant when the sky is much brighter than the foreground, such as with a low sun near the horizon or a bright strip of sky above a darker scene. The filter’s R-GND designation makes it a specific option to consider for that kind of tonal balancing. If you often photograph landscapes with uneven brightness across the frame, this gives you a direct way to shape the exposure at capture.
Specialist Note
The R-GND 0.9 is intended for balancing a bright horizon in-camera, instead of asking editing to correct the whole frame later. I’d point landscape photographers towards it for a sunrise or sunset when the sky is brighter than the land: compose with the brighter band in mind, then use the filter to manage that difference as you expose. The 0.9 marking is useful when comparing filter strengths, so you can choose this specific density deliberately rather than buying by appearance alone. And the 77 mm size gives you a clear starting point when matching it to your filter setup. It’s a considered choice for uneven light; it won’t replace exposure judgement in a scene with complicated brightness changes.
