Kondor Blue KB-MB-PH Matte Box Pro Hood w/ Seitenfahnen
Kondor Blue KB-MB-PH Matte Box Pro Hood w/ Seitenfahnen | Shade stray light in controlled video setups
Kondor Blue KB-MB-PH Matte Box Pro Hood w/ Seitenfahnen is a matte box hood with side flags, built for video makers who want more control over stray light in a shot. The hood helps shade the front of the lens, while the side flags let you block light arriving from the sides. That makes it useful for interviews near a bright window, exterior filming in low sun, or scenes where flare would distract from the subject. It’s a focused piece of camera-rig equipment rather than a filter: the job here is managing light around the lens, not changing colour or adding a protective glass layer. If you’re building a video setup and want a hood with adjustable light-blocking surfaces, this Kondor Blue model is worth considering. As with any rig accessory, make sure its physical fit works with your particular setup before planning a shoot around it.
Specialist Note
Late afternoon sun cuts across a location, and the subject’s face is beginning to lose contrast. That’s the kind of moment where this hood and its side flags earn their place. I’d use the two side flags to shade the lens from off-axis light, then adjust their position while checking the frame so they block the glare without intruding into the shot. It suits video shooters who need to shape available light on location, especially for interviews or detail shots near bright windows. One practical limit: it manages stray light, but it doesn’t replace a filter when you need a filter’s effect. I’d treat it as a dedicated light-control tool in the rig.
