Laowa Lens Hood For 180mm f/4.5 (Lao-LH18045)
Laowa Lens Hood For 180mm f/4.5 | Help control stray light
Stray light coming in from the side can wash out contrast or create unwanted flare, especially when a bright source sits just outside your frame. This Laowa lens hood is made for the 180mm f/4.5 lens named in its title, giving you a straightforward way to shade the lens during everyday shooting. It’s particularly useful for outdoor portraits and distant details, where you may not be able to reposition yourself to keep sunlight behind you. Keep it fitted when working near a bright window or shooting toward a low sun; it can help limit light reaching the front of the lens from outside the picture. A hood is a simple accessory, and its benefit depends on where the light is coming from. It won’t change your exposure or remove flare from a light source inside the frame, but it can make challenging light easier to manage.
Specialist Note
At 180mm, I’d keep this hood fitted for outdoor portraits when sunlight is coming from the side. That focal length gives you a tighter view, so you can frame a face or a distant detail without moving close; place the bright source just outside the composition and the hood can help keep stray light off the lens. The f/4.5 designation identifies the lens this hood is for, and it’s a useful reminder that the hood itself won’t brighten the image: adjust your exposure for the light you have. It suits owners of this specific Laowa lens. Just don’t expect it to block flare from a light that’s actually in the frame.
