Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND16 62 mm
Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND16 62 mm | Four stops for slower shutter speeds
An ND16 grey filter cuts the light reaching your camera by four stops, giving you more room to use a slower shutter speed in bright conditions. It suits photographers who want to show movement in a scene without waiting for dimmer light. Waterfalls and fountains are good examples: the extra exposure time can soften the moving water while the surroundings remain clearly defined. You can also use the light reduction to keep a wider aperture outdoors when you want less depth of field. The Marumi DHG ND16 is most useful when your usual exposure settings leave little room to adjust shutter speed or aperture. It’s a focused tool for controlling exposure, rather than a filter that changes the scene on its own; the result still depends on your chosen settings and subject.
Specialist Note
First-time ND16 owners sometimes expect the filter to create motion blur by itself; it gives you the exposure latitude to choose a slower shutter speed. With this filter’s four-stop reduction, a reading of 1/60 sec can become roughly 1/4 sec at the same aperture and ISO, which is a practical starting point for flowing water. The 62 mm size is the key fit detail: use it on a lens with a 62 mm filter thread. I’d recommend it to someone working in daylight who wants that slower-shutter option. Four stops is a helpful reduction, but may not be enough for very long exposures in strong sun.
