Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND32 49 mm
Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND32 49 mm | Add motion blur in daylight
Bright daylight can make a moving stream look frozen, even when you want the water to blur into a softer flow. A grey, or neutral-density, filter reduces the light entering the lens, giving you more room to use a slower shutter speed in bright conditions. The Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND32 is for photographers who want that control for moving water, passing people or other motion in a scene. It can also help you use a wider aperture outdoors when the light would otherwise call for a smaller one. The effect depends on your starting exposure and the look you want, so take a test frame and adjust your shutter speed accordingly. This is a focused tool for managing light, rather than a filter that changes the scene’s colour or adds detail. Its value is clearest when you have a specific reason to reduce the light reaching the camera.
Specialist Note
For a longer daytime exposure without stacking several filters, this ND32 gives you a clear, five-stop reduction in light. That can turn 1/30 sec into roughly one second at the same aperture and ISO, which is a practical starting point for giving flowing water visible movement. The 49 mm size is important: match it to the filter thread on your lens, and it’ll sit in place without needing a step-up ring. I’d suggest it to someone who wants a deliberate blur in bright conditions, or needs to keep a wide aperture outdoors. It won’t freeze motion; that’s the trade-off, so use a faster shutter when you want crisp movement instead.
