Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND64 77 mm
Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND64 77 mm | Six stops less light for creative exposure
Bright daylight can make it hard to use a slow shutter or a wider aperture without overexposing your photo. The Marumi Grey Filter DHG ND64 reduces the light reaching the camera, giving you more room to choose those settings. Its ND64 rating means it passes one sixty-fourth of the light, a reduction of six stops. That’s handy for giving moving water a softer look or capturing motion in a bright scene, and for using a wider aperture outdoors when you want less depth of field. This filter suits photographers who want more control over exposure in strong light, whether they’re working with landscapes or other scenes with movement. It’s a straightforward way to extend your exposure options when your camera’s settings alone don’t offer enough flexibility.
Specialist Note
“Will the ND64 let me make a daylight exposure last around a second?” Yes, if your unfiltered reading is about 1/60 sec: six stops longer brings you to roughly one second. That can give flowing water a smoother appearance, provided the scene and camera remain steady. I’d also consider this filter if you want to open up your aperture in bright conditions without pushing the exposure too far. The 77 mm size is the key fitting detail: it’s for a lens with a matching 77 mm filter thread. One honest caveat: with six stops less light, you’ll need to adjust your exposure deliberately rather than expect the same shutter speed as before.
