Mcoplus MCO12mm f/2.8 MICRO4/3 Black | Wide views with manual focus

Without an ultra-wide prime, fitting a broad landscape or a tall building into the frame can mean stepping back or changing your composition. The Mcoplus MCO12mm f/2.8 is a fixed-focal-length lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras, with an estimated 84° angle of view to take in a wide scene. Its 12mm focal length gives a 24mm-equivalent view on a Micro Four Thirds body, making it a practical option for landscapes and architecture where you want plenty of the surroundings in the picture. The f/2.8 maximum aperture also makes it suited to astro photography, where gathering more light is helpful. Focus is manual, so this lens is best for photographers who are comfortable setting focus themselves rather than relying on autofocus. It’s a focused tool for wide compositions, from open scenery to buildings and the night sky.

Specialist Note

Do I have to focus the Mcoplus MCO12mm f/2.8 MICRO4/3 Black myself? Yes—you focus it manually, which suits a considered approach to framing rather than quick autofocus. On a Micro Four Thirds body, its 12mm focal length gives you a 24mm-equivalent view, so you can include a building’s surroundings without having to frame it from far away. For stars, open the aperture to f/2.8 to let in more light, then take care over your manual focus. I’d point it towards photographers who enjoy that hands-on control for architecture, landscapes or astro. The trade-off is simple: if you need autofocus, this isn’t the right lens.
