Mentter Variable HD ND4-1000 58mm
Mentter Variable HD ND4-1000 58mm | Control exposure in bright conditions
Mentter Variable HD ND4-1000 58mm is a variable neutral-density filter with a 58mm diameter, built for photographers and video makers who want to adjust the light reaching the camera without changing filters. An ND filter reduces incoming light, giving you more room to choose a slower shutter speed or a wider aperture in bright conditions. The ND4-1000 designation identifies its stated range; it’s useful when your light changes and you want to adjust the filter rather than swap to another density. Think of it for managing motion in a flowing-water scene, or keeping a chosen look while filming outdoors. It suits anyone whose lens has a 58mm filter thread and who values an adjustable ND filter over carrying several individual filters. The practical benefit is flexibility at the lens; the result still depends on your exposure settings and the light in the scene. For repeatable work, keep track of the exposure settings you settle on.
Specialist Note
Exposure adjustments can happen at the filter, so you can keep your chosen aperture while responding to changing light. The variable ND4-1000 range is the point here: for a bright stream, set the shutter speed you want for the water’s movement, then adjust the filter until the exposure is right. For outdoor video, you can work the same way when you want to retain a particular shutter setting. The 58mm size makes this a fit for lenses with a 58mm filter thread, so it’s worth matching that diameter to the lens you plan to use. It’s a focused tool for those lenses, not a universal fit across your kit.
