Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II Leica L-Mount
Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith 30mm f/3.5 II Leica L-Mount | A wider view for street and travel
Street scenes and travel details keep more of their surroundings in the frame with this 30mm wide-angle prime. The Meyer Optik Görlitz Lydith is an interchangeable lens for Leica L-mount cameras, made for photographers who enjoy setting focus themselves and choosing their framing with care. Its 30mm focal length gives you room to include a building, a passer-by and some of the street around them, without stepping so far back that the scene loses its immediacy. On a trip, that wider view is handy for architecture, busy markets and everyday moments where context matters. Manual focus makes it a considered tool rather than a point-and-shoot option: you set the focus instead of relying on autofocus. The maximum aperture is f/3.5, so it’s best suited to daylight and well-lit scenes, with a little more care needed as the light fades.
Specialist Note
A common surprise with a 30mm lens is how much of the scene stays in view; the Lydith makes that wider framing useful for candid street moments and travel scenes with context. I’d start by framing a person with some of the street around them, then use manual focus to place attention where you want it. For a daylight market or a walk through town, f/3.5 gives you the option to open the aperture when you need more light. Just keep in mind that f/3.5 isn’t especially bright for dim interiors or evening streets, so this lens suits photographers happy to work with the available light and focus deliberately.
