Nanlux FE Mount Diffusion Ball 15cm
Nanlux FE Mount Diffusion Ball 15cm | Soft, wide light from a compact modifier
The 15cm spherical shape spreads a lamp’s output across a broad area, softening hard light for a gentler look on your subject. The Nanlux FE Mount Diffusion Ball 15cm is a compact light modifier for Nanlux lighting setups that need soft, even illumination rather than a hard beam. Its rounded form makes it a natural fit for portraits, where softer shadows keep facial lighting from looking harsh. It also suits product video, with even light across a subject, and interviews, where a softer source makes for a more natural appearance. The FE-mount connection clicks onto the lamp, so it can be fitted quickly when changing the light setup. Its 15cm size keeps the modifier compact around the fixture, making it a useful option for smaller lighting arrangements where a broad, diffused output is wanted.
In the field
- 180-degree spread: Light covers a wide area rather than forming a narrow beam. That broad output softens shadows and suits scenes where an even, natural-looking result matters.
- 134g weight: The ball adds little weight to the lamp. That’s useful when keeping a lighting setup light and straightforward matters, especially for compact arrangements.
- IP66-rated construction: The stated rating makes the ball suitable for use in wet outdoor conditions. You can keep it in consideration for exterior setups where the weather may be damp.
- FE-mount connection: The fitting clicks onto the lamp for a quick attachment. It’s also described as compatible with FM-mount lights, subject to the fixture being a selected compatible Nanlux model.
- Selected Nanlux lights: Compatibility is limited to selected Nanlux fixtures, rather than every light in the range. Match the ball to a supported lamp to use its FE-mount fitting.
Specialist Note
The FE connection makes this a quick change at the lamp: click the ball into place, and the hard source becomes a broad, softer light. I like the 15cm format for compact setups, while its 180-degree spread is the detail to consider for interviews or product video: it softens shadows without turning the modifier into a narrow beam. For a portrait, use it on a selected compatible Nanlux light to soften facial shadows; for a product clip, the wide output keeps the subject’s illumination even. The compact size is also its boundary: choose it when you want broad diffusion from a small modifier, not a large lighting surface.
