PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 Black Mist 95mm Coarse Threaded McKinnon Series
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 Black Mist 95mm Coarse Threaded McKinnon Series | Control exposure with a softened look
In bright daylight, you may want to manage exposure without giving up the look you’re aiming for. This PolarPro Chroma combines a variable neutral density filter with a polarizing filter, with a 6–9 range indicated in its name. It’s also a Black Mist filter, bringing a softened character to the image alongside those exposure and polarization functions. That combination will appeal to photographers and filmmakers who want these effects in one filter rather than reaching for separate options. It’s particularly suited to outdoor scenes and portraits where you want to work with changing light while keeping a gentle highlight treatment. The 95mm size and coarse threaded design make it a specific fit for a matching setup, rather than a general-purpose filter to assume will suit any lens. Part of the McKinnon Series, it brings several distinct filter functions together in a single piece of front-of-lens kit.
Specialist Note
The main thing this filter solves is carrying separate filters when you want exposure control, polarization and a Black Mist look in the same setup. I’d point it toward someone building around a 95mm coarse-threaded filter connection: the diameter and thread type matter, so the fitting needs to match exactly. For outdoor video, adjust the variable density across its 6–9 range as the light changes; for portraits, the Black Mist element gives you a softer rendering while the polarizing function can help manage reflections in the scene. It’s a focused combination, not a universal fit, so I’d choose it for a setup that specifically calls for these functions and this thread.
