PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Gold Mist - 95mm - Fine Threaded - McKinnon Series
PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 - Gold Mist - 95mm - Fine Threaded - McKinnon Series | Variable light control with a warm mist look
Combining variable neutral density with polarisation is the defining choice here: the PolarPro Chroma VND/PL 6-9 brings both functions into one 95mm fine-threaded filter. It’s made for photographers and filmmakers who want to manage incoming light while working with the look associated with a polarizing filter, without changing filters between those adjustments. The 6–9 designation gives you a three-stop working span at the denser end of the range; Gold Mist names the filter’s visual character. That combination makes it especially relevant for video in bright conditions, when controlling exposure matters, and for scenes where reflections are part of the picture you want to shape. The McKinnon Series identifies its place in PolarPro’s range. It’s a specialist option for people who have a 95mm threaded setup and want these effects together, rather than a general-purpose filter for any lens.
Working with the combination
Variable ND is the exposure-control side: its 6–9-stop range reduces the light reaching the camera, while the PL designation indicates polarizing functionality. Gold Mist adds a named creative look to that pairing. With a 95mm fine-threaded format, the key practical consideration is the filter’s diameter and threaded fitting; it’s intended for a matching setup. The filter’s appeal is in combining these functions, though the title alone doesn’t establish adjustment markings or any other operating details.
Specialist Note
Moving from 6 to 9 stops gives you room to respond as the light changes, without stepping outside this filter’s stated range. I’d consider it for bright-day video when you want to keep exposure under control, or for a reflective scene where the polarizing function is part of the look you’re after. Gold Mist makes this more of a creative decision than a plain exposure tool: you’re choosing that named character as well as variable ND and PL in one filter. The 95mm fine thread is a specific fit, so it suits a setup built around that size; it isn’t the filter I’d suggest if you need a different diameter.
