PolarPro Vario VND 6/9stops Peter McKinnon Signature Edition
PolarPro Vario VND 6/9stops Peter McKinnon Signature Edition | Control bright-light exposure with variable ND
Without an ND filter, bright light can leave you choosing between a shutter speed or aperture that doesn’t suit the look you want. The PolarPro Vario VND Peter McKinnon Signature Edition is a variable neutral-density filter, marked for 6–9 stops of light reduction. It’s for photographers and filmmakers who want to cut incoming light while working in bright conditions, rather than rely on one fixed exposure choice. The stronger reduction is especially relevant for daylight video, where you may want to keep your chosen shutter setting, and for stills where a longer exposure can bring movement into a scene. Its variable format gives you room to adjust the amount of reduction within its stated range. This is a specialist tool for situations that call for substantial light control, rather than a subtle filter for every lighting condition.
Specialist Note
The 6–9-stop reduction is quite strong, so I wouldn’t treat this as an everyday filter for dim or changing light. Its appeal is that the Vario VND design lets you vary the density, which is handy when the light is bright but you want to keep control of your exposure. For outdoor video, settle on the shutter setting you want first, then use the filter’s reduction to manage the brightness. For a still image with moving water or clouds, the 6–9 stops can help you work with a longer exposure in daylight. I’d point you to this Peter McKinnon Signature Edition when that strong range is what your shooting calls for.
