Revar Cine 138mm / 37mm Close-Up Donut Diopter +0.50
Revar Cine 138mm / 37mm Close-Up Donut Diopter +0.50 | Gentle close-up power for cine work
The +0.50 diopter is the defining optical choice: it adds a mild close-up effect, rather than aiming for an extreme macro look. This Revar Cine accessory is for filmmakers who want to bring a subject closer in the frame while retaining a measured, natural-looking approach to detail. It suits insert shots, small objects and tighter views of textures, where a little extra closeness can help compose the image without making the shot feel overtly magnified. The 138mm / 37mm designation identifies the format named for this donut diopter, so it’s worth keeping those figures to hand when planning your setup. The strength is clearly marked as +0.50, giving you a specific, modest close-up option to work with. If you need dramatic magnification, this isn’t the strength to reach for; it’s better suited to subtle framing adjustments and controlled close-up work.
Specialist Note
Set-up stays focused on the shot: this is a +0.50 close-up diopter, so you can make a gentle move toward detail without building the image around strong magnification. I’d consider it for a product insert or a close view of a surface; bring the subject into your composition, then adjust focus to find the framing you want. The 138mm / 37mm designation is worth keeping visible while you plan the rig, so you can match the named format to your intended arrangement. It’ll suit cine work where a restrained close-up is the aim. Its honest limit is the modest +0.50 strength: for a much tighter view, you’ll need a stronger close-up effect.
