Revar Cine 138mm / 49mm Close-Up Donut Diopter +0.25
Revar Cine 138mm / 49mm Close-Up Donut Diopter +0.25 | Gentle close focusing for cine work
Fine details can fill more of the frame while keeping a restrained, natural-looking close-up. The Revar Cine 138mm / 49mm Close-Up Donut Diopter +0.25 is a close-up diopter for cine work, with a mild +0.25 strength to help a lens focus nearer. That makes it suited to cinematographers who want to bring a small detail, texture or prop into a shot without aiming for an extreme macro look. Its gentle effect is especially useful when a scene needs a closer view but should still feel measured. The title’s 138mm / 49mm designation points to a specific format, so this is a specialist accessory to consider as part of a cine setup, not a general-purpose filter. If you’re planning close inserts or detail shots, it offers a straightforward way to explore closer focusing.
A measured close-up effect
A +0.25 diopter is a subtle aid rather than a dramatic change in perspective. For close inserts, work within the nearer focusing range it allows and refine focus on the detail that matters. It’s a considered option for shots where a small shift closer is more useful than an overtly magnified look.
Specialist Note
The Revar Cine 138mm / 49mm Close-Up Donut Diopter +0.25 is best at giving cine work a gentle close-focus assist. I’d consider it for detail shots of a prop or surface texture: bring the lens in closer, then focus carefully on the feature you want viewers to notice. The +0.25 strength keeps the effect modest, which suits a deliberate insert better than a dramatic macro-style view. Pay attention to the 138mm / 49mm designation when planning your setup; it’s a specific format, not something I’d assume fits every arrangement. If you want a strong close-up effect, this mild diopter may not be the right approach.
