Revar Cine 138mm Close-Up Diopter +1
Revar Cine 138mm Close-Up Diopter +1 | Bring close subjects within reach
Many close-up accessories are chosen for a particular lens setup, and the useful question is what they let you do: this diopter helps a cine lens focus on subjects closer than it can on its own. It suits filmmakers and camera crews who want to work nearer to a subject without changing the whole lens setup. Think of a small detail in a product scene, or a close view of a practical prop where you want to keep using your existing lens. The +1 strength gives a modest close-focus effect rather than an extreme magnification look, so it can be a considered way to move closer while keeping the shot’s framing and focus under control. Results depend on the lens and its existing focus range; a diopter doesn’t give every lens the same working distance. For close-up work where that extra reach is useful, this is a straightforward optical aid to consider.
Specialist Note
First-time close-up diopter users sometimes expect a fixed new focusing distance; in practice, the lens and its own focus setting still matter. This +1 strength is a measured step toward closer work, so I’d use it when a subject needs to fill more of the frame without reaching for a more powerful close-up effect. For a product detail, focus the lens near its close limit, then refine the framing and focus together as you move the camera. The 138mm size is important when choosing the matching filter interface for your cine setup, so pay attention to that measurement. It’s best suited to planned close shots rather than situations where you need to switch rapidly between distant and nearby subjects.
