Rycote Cyclone Windshield Only Small
Rycote Cyclone Windshield Only Small | Small-size wind protection
For outdoor dialogue recording, a windshield helps reduce wind disturbance at the microphone, making speech easier to follow in a breezy location. The Rycote Cyclone Windshield Only Small is the Small-size windshield from Rycote’s Cyclone line. Its name also makes clear that this is the windshield itself, rather than a broader microphone accessory package. It suits someone who needs the Small size specifically and is selecting a windshield for a Cyclone setup. For spoken-word recording outside, the aim is straightforward: use the windshield to help manage wind at the microphone while you capture the scene. It can also suit location ambience work, where wind across the mic can become an unwanted part of the recording. The size designation is the key detail when choosing this version; the product name doesn’t give a microphone model or fit range, so I’d treat Small as the deciding point rather than assume a particular fit.
Specialist Note
The Small size label is the physical detail I’d focus on first: it narrows the choice to this particular Cyclone windshield size, rather than leaving you to guess from a generic accessory name. “Windshield Only” is just as useful when you’re shopping; you’re looking at the windshield, not a complete microphone setup. For outdoor dialogue, use it as the wind barrier at the mic before recording; for location ambience, it can help keep wind from becoming the dominant sound. I’d recommend it to someone who needs the Small Cyclone version in particular. The honest caveat is that the name alone doesn’t identify which microphone it fits, so don’t treat the size label as a universal fit guide.
