Rycote Nano-Shield Windjammer NW6-DD
Rycote Nano-Shield Windjammer NW6-DD | A Rycote windjammer for microphone use
Rycote Nano-Shield Windjammer NW6-DD is a microphone windjammer, with NW6-DD as its specific model designation. It’s intended for sound recordists who need to address wind around a microphone, especially when recording outdoors or in other breezy locations. For interviews, dialogue and location sound, wind reaching the microphone can distract from the words you’re trying to capture; a windjammer is designed to help manage that problem. This is a focused accessory rather than a recording device, so its job is to support your microphone setup, not change how you record or process audio. The name gives you the exact Rycote product to look for, which is useful when comparing accessories or checking a production list. If wind is a regular concern in your recording work, the NW6-DD is worth considering as a dedicated wind-control accessory.
Specialist Note
In a breezy location, the point of a windjammer is simple: give wind less chance to interfere with the sound your microphone is capturing. I’d consider this Rycote for outdoor spoken audio, such as an interview or a presenter piece, where clear speech matters more than picking up the surrounding air. “Nano-Shield” is part of the product name, while NW6-DD is the identifier I’d use when searching for this exact version or noting it on a kit list. That makes the product straightforward to identify, but I wouldn’t assume a fit for a particular microphone from the name alone. It’s a focused accessory for wind management, not a general audio upgrade.
