Rycote Sony ICD-SX2000 Mini Windjammer
Rycote Sony ICD-SX2000 Mini Windjammer | Help reduce wind noise
When a quick voice recording has to happen outdoors, a breeze can put distracting noise across the microphone. That’s where a mini windjammer earns its place. Rycote’s Sony ICD-SX2000 Mini Windjammer is a microphone accessory named for the Sony ICD-SX2000. Its purpose is straightforward: provide a small wind barrier when moving air is a concern, without changing how you operate the recorder. It suits ICD-SX2000 owners making spoken recordings outside, such as interviews, location notes or short pieces of narration, who want to address wind at the microphone itself. The “Mini” designation points to a compact-format accessory for keeping a recording setup simple. Think of it as a focused aid for breezy conditions, not a fix for every sound problem: nearby voices, traffic and room echo still depend on the recording location and how you position the recorder.
Specialist Note
Wind buffeting can spoil an otherwise clear spoken take, and this accessory is aimed at that specific nuisance. I’d consider it for an ICD-SX2000 owner recording a street interview or making outdoor narration: use the windjammer when air is moving around the microphone, and choose a sheltered spot as well if gusts are strong. Its Mini format makes sense for someone who wants a compact audio setup; it’s a dedicated answer to wind rather than a broader recording upgrade. One limitation to keep in mind is that a windjammer addresses wind at the microphone, not traffic, handling noise or a noisy background. For those, placement and surroundings matter more.
