Rycote Windjammer WJ AC
Rycote Windjammer WJ AC | Help reduce wind noise in microphone recordings
Cleaner-sounding microphone recordings can make outdoor dialogue and ambience easier to hear. The Rycote Windjammer WJ AC is a microphone accessory intended for wind protection: a practical option for anyone who wants to address wind disturbance at the microphone rather than trying to fix every problem later. It’s relevant to location sound, interviews and other recording situations where the microphone is exposed to moving air. The product name identifies it as a Windjammer, while the shop category places it among microphone accessories. That gives you a clear sense of its role, without guessing at microphone fit or setup details. If wind is affecting your recordings, this is the kind of accessory to consider when planning your sound kit. Its appeal is focused and straightforward: wind protection for microphone use, rather than another recording feature to manage.
Specialist Note
Rycote is the maker, and “Windjammer” tells you the job this accessory is meant to do: help with wind around a microphone. I’d consider the WJ AC when recording outdoors, especially for spoken audio where gusts can distract from the voice, or when capturing outdoor ambience. The useful first step is to treat it as part of your microphone setup for windy conditions, not as a fix for every sound problem. It’s a focused accessory, and its name alone doesn’t tell me which microphones it fits, so I wouldn’t want to guess at that. For the right setup, its purpose is clear.
