Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Sony E | Wide views for landscapes, buildings and night skies

Wide scenes can be difficult to fit into a frame without stepping back so far that you lose your chosen viewpoint. The Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Sony E is an ultra-wide prime for Sony E cameras, made for landscape, architecture and night-sky photography. It suits photographers who want foreground and surrounding space to play a strong part in the composition, or who need to include more of a building from a limited position. The broad perspective can make nearby details feel prominent against a distant view, which gives you a practical way to build depth into a landscape. For architecture, thoughtful camera placement helps keep the composition deliberate. This is a lens for photographers who want an expansive, fixed view, rather than the framing flexibility of a zoom.

Specialist Note

“Is the Samyang 10mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS CS Sony E wide enough for night skies?” Yes: its 10mm view takes in a large sweep of sky, and on a Sony APS-C body it gives a 15mm full-frame-equivalent field of view. The f/2.8 maximum aperture is useful when you want to gather more light; for stars, start there and adjust ISO to suit the conditions and shutter time you can accept. For architecture, include a close foreground feature to give a building scene depth. One thing to watch: the wide perspective can stretch shapes near the edges, so place important details carefully.
