SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850X NVMe SSD 1TB

SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850X NVMe SSD 1TB | External storage for a working photo library

The defining choice here is 1TB of storage: enough to make this an option for photographers who want an external place for a substantial set of working files, rather than a drive sized only for a handful of transfers. The SanDisk Optimus GX Pro 850X is an external NVMe SSD, so its identity is clear from the name: solid-state storage in a 1TB capacity. It may suit someone who wants to keep photo or video files outside their computer’s internal storage, or who needs a separate drive for a current project. The honest limit is that capacity alone doesn’t tell you how quickly a particular workflow will run. If speed is your deciding factor, don’t choose on the model name alone. For a straightforward storage decision, though, this gives you a clearly stated capacity and an external SSD format.

When I’m helping someone choose storage, I’d start with the amount of material they actually need to keep close at hand. A large shoot, a growing library or video work can use space quickly, so think about your files and how long you intend to retain them. This drive gives you a defined 1TB to plan around; it won’t remove the need to manage files or keep a separate backup of important work. You can use an external drive as one part of a storage routine, but a second copy in another place is sensible for anything you can’t afford to lose. The product name also identifies it as NVMe, while the capacity is the clearest practical point for comparing it with other storage options. Pick it for the storage space you need, not an assumption about performance.
