Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV 82mm HLYWD BLK Magic® 1/2
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV 82mm HLYWD BLK Magic® 1/2 | A clearly identified 82mm polarizer
The defining choice is the 82mm format: it gives this filter a precise size for setups built around an 82mm filter fitting. Schneider-Kreuznach names it MPTV 82mm HLYWD BLK Magic® 1/2, and its category identifies it as a polarizing filter. That makes it relevant when you want to manage polarized reflections in a scene, such as glare from glass or water. The HLYWD BLK Magic® 1/2 wording identifies this particular version, rather than a generic polarizer listing. It suits image-makers who already use an 82mm filter setup and want this specific Schneider-Kreuznach filter in their kit. I’d choose it for its stated size and exact designation, rather than assume a particular look from the name alone.
Specialist Note
In use, setup starts with matching the filter to an 82mm fitting; that’s straightforward when your rig is already built around that size, but it won’t solve a size mismatch. For reflections on glass or water, adjust the polarizer’s orientation while watching the reflected area, so you can judge the change in the frame. The 1/2 in the name is part of this filter’s specific designation, so it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re choosing a particular version for a planned setup. I’d point this out to someone who needs an 82mm polarizing filter with this exact Schneider-Kreuznach name. The useful limit is simple: the size has to suit your setup.
