Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV HLYWD BLK Magic 2 6.6x6.6
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV HLYWD BLK Magic 2 6.6x6.6 | Polarising control for production work
Without a polarising filter, reflections from glass or water can compete with the subject in your frame. The Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV HLYWD BLK Magic 2 is listed as a polarising filter, in a 6.6x6.6 format for a production-style filter setup. It’s aimed at filmmakers and camera crews who want to manage reflected light deliberately, rather than rely on a small filter fitted directly to a lens. That can be useful when filming through a window or working with reflective surfaces: adjust the filter’s orientation to reduce unwanted glare, then check the image as you compose. The product name also specifies “Magic 2”, so you can identify the particular version you’re selecting. This is a specialist-format filter, best suited to a planned camera setup where the filter can be positioned and adjusted as part of the shot. It’s less relevant if you’re simply looking for a compact everyday filter for casual stills.
Specialist Note
The 6.6x6.6 format makes this a dedicated production filter, not a small screw-on option for a casual setup. That’s precisely why I’d point a working crew toward it: you can use a polarising filter to tame reflections on a shop window or a water surface, adjusting its orientation while you watch the frame. The MPTV designation also makes the intended context clear—it belongs in a motion-picture workflow where filtration is part of setting up the shot. I’d consider it for controlled filming with reflective surfaces in frame. If you need a pocketable filter for quick handheld stills, this format is more specialised than you need.
