Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 1/4 4x5.65
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 1/4 4x5.65 | Add a softer image character
Schneider-Kreuznach MPTV Radiant Soft 1/4 4x5.65 is a 4x5.65-format ND filter with a Radiant Soft 1/4 designation, made for cinematographers shaping the look of a shot. It brings two roles together: ND filtration and a softening effect. That makes it relevant when you want to manage light reaching the camera while also choosing a gentler image character, rather than treating filtration as exposure control alone. The 1/4 marking gives you a specific strength to work with, while the 4x5.65 format identifies the filter size you need to plan around. It suits filmmakers and camera crews who make deliberate choices about the image before recording, and who want a named soft effect as part of that process. Think of it as a look-shaping filter for a considered setup, not a general-purpose accessory whose effect you can assume will suit every scene. Its appeal is the combination expressed in its name: ND filtering with Radiant Soft character.
Specialist Note
For cinematographers framing faces or carefully controlled scenes, this filter gives you a specific soft character to consider alongside ND filtration. The 1/4 designation is useful when you want to select a defined grade rather than reach for an unspecified soft effect; judge it in the context of the look you’re building. Its 4x5.65 format also matters in practice: plan for that exact filter size in your filtration setup, rather than assuming another size will do. I’d consider it when the image calls for a gentler treatment and you also need an ND filter in the setup. The honest caveat is that a soft effect is a creative choice, so it won’t suit every scene or every intended rendering.
