Sirui Low Gravity Head KS-20 | Stable framing close to the ground

Precise tripod framing with the camera close to the ground is where the Sirui Low Gravity Head KS-20 comes into its own. It supports up to 18 kg, while its low-gravity layout lowers the camera’s centre of gravity for steadier movement and stronger locking. That combination is useful on uneven ground and for low-level compositions that need careful positioning. The KS-20 is a tripod head for photographers and video makers who want deliberate control over framing, rather than a head that simply holds the camera in place. Use it for carefully composed stills, wide panoramas or controlled video pans. For a panorama, the head provides a stable point from which to make a sequence of frames; for a video sweep, its adjustable friction offers control over the movement. Its low profile also suits compositions made with the tripod set close to the ground. The robust load rating makes the KS-20 suitable for substantial camera setups, while its range of positioning and panning controls covers different kinds of tripod work. It’s a specialist head with a clear purpose: keep the camera stable and give you precise adjustments as you compose.

Stability and setup

  • Adjustable friction: Set the resistance to suit the equipment on the head. This gives heavy setups more controlled movement while you compose.
  • 360° panoramic base: Rotate the head through a full circle for panoramic framing or a video pan. A separate locking knob secures the base when you’re ready.
  • Numbered scale: The scale on the panoramic base gives you marked positions as you rotate, useful when you want to keep track of camera orientation.
  • Panoramic quick-release plate: The plate also rotates through 360°, so you can make fine camera-position adjustments after mounting it.
  • Arca-type quick-release clamp: The flip-lock system secures compatible equipment in the clamp and allows quick attachment or removal.
  • Large flip-lock lever: Its generous size supports one-handed operation when attaching or releasing the camera.

Specialist Note

At 320g, the KS-20 is a light addition to a tripod kit, and its aluminium-alloy construction gives it a durable, solid build. Its 77mm height is particularly useful for low-ground compositions: lower the tripod legs and the head keeps the camera close to the surface for a dramatic landscape detail or a low architectural viewpoint. For a vertical frame, place the camera in one of the two notches; that gives you a direct way to change orientation without repositioning the tripod. I’d pair it with a Sirui AT, T-0S or A Series lightweight folding tripod, the models listed as compatible. Keep the total setup within the 18kg capacity, especially when adding accessories.
