Sirui Nightwalker 24mm T1.2 S35 MF Cine Lens M4/3-Mount Gun Grey
Sirui Nightwalker 24mm T1.2 S35 MF Cine Lens M4/3-Mount Gun Grey | A fast prime for measured, cinematic framing
Without a fast prime, filming in dim interiors can mean adding lights or raising ISO. The Sirui Nightwalker 24mm T1.2 is a manual-focus cine lens for filmmakers who want a bright, fixed focal length on a Micro Four Thirds camera. Its 24mm view gives a natural, composed feel for dialogue, portraits and detail shots, rather than an exaggerated wide-angle look. The T1.2 maximum aperture gives you room to work when light is limited and can help separate a subject from its background. As a prime, it keeps you working with one perspective: you reframe by moving the camera, not by zooming. That suits planned scenes and deliberate focus work. The M4/3 mount makes it a match for Micro Four Thirds bodies, and the gun-grey finish gives the lens a distinctive look on a rig. It’s a specialist tool for video and filmmaking, especially when you value a bright aperture and controlled composition over the flexibility of a zoom.
Working with a fixed perspective
A fixed focal length encourages you to shape the frame with camera position. For a talking-head scene, set the camera at a comfortable distance, then use the composition to keep attention on the speaker. For a closer detail, move in and refocus rather than reaching for a zoom ring. The manual focus operation suits a considered pace: plan the subject’s movement and your focus changes together. That approach is especially useful for short scenes where each frame has a clear purpose.
Specialist Note
“Is the Nightwalker 24mm T1.2 a good fit for filming on Micro Four Thirds?” Yes, if you want a natural-looking frame and are happy to focus manually. On an MFT body, 24mm frames like roughly 48mm on full frame, so it’s a comfortable perspective for a seated interview or a close performance shot without making the face feel exaggerated. The T1.2 aperture is the reason I’d consider it for available-light scenes: open it up when the room is dim, then focus carefully on the subject’s eyes. It suits filmmakers who like to set a shot rather than zoom through it. Just remember, a prime won’t give you instant reframing from the camera position.
