SmallRig MD5422 ArcaSwiss Mount Plate For Airtag / SMARTTAG2
SmallRig MD5422 ArcaSwiss Mount Plate For Airtag / SMARTTAG2 | Keep a tracker with your tripod
Its defining choice is to combine an Arca-Swiss mount plate with a design intended for an AirTag or SMARTTAG2. That gives tripod users a way to include one of these trackers as part of their setup, rather than treating it as a separate accessory to remember. The SmallRig MD5422 is a specialist tripod accessory for photographers who carry their support gear between locations and want a tracker associated with it. Its appeal is practical and specific: it brings a named tracker into a tripod arrangement built around the Arca-Swiss format. This isn’t a general-purpose plate for adding other equipment; the product is made around the tracker use shown in its name. If you already use an AirTag or SMARTTAG2 and want a dedicated tripod accessory for it, this is the role the MD5422 is designed to fill. It keeps the idea straightforward: a mount plate, a compatible named tracker, and your tripod setup.
Specialist Note
Photographers who pack a tripod for location work are the people I’d point toward the MD5422. Its Arca-Swiss plate format makes it relevant to a tripod setup using that fitting, while its purpose for an AirTag or SMARTTAG2 gives the accessory a clear job: keeping a tracker associated with your support gear. I’d consider it if you already use one of those trackers and want a dedicated tripod accessory, rather than a general plate. The honest limitation is that its usefulness depends on having one of the named trackers; the plate itself isn’t a tracking device. That focused purpose is exactly what makes it easy to assess.
