Sontronics Corona Supercardiod Dynamic Microphone
Sontronics Corona Supercardiod Dynamic Microphone | Focused pickup for spoken word
For spoken-word recording where you want the voice to take centre stage, the Sontronics Corona is a supercardioid dynamic microphone to aim directly at your speaker. Its focused pickup pattern makes careful positioning part of the recording: point the microphone towards the voice and keep unwanted sound sources out of its pickup area. That makes it suited to podcasters, presenters and anyone recording interviews or dialogue who wants to pay attention to where sound is coming from, rather than simply capturing the room around them. The dynamic design gives you a straightforward microphone option for voice work, while the supercardioid pattern is the key detail to consider when setting up. It’s best approached as a deliberately aimed mic, not one to leave pointing vaguely into a busy space. If you can position it with the speaker in mind, the Corona gives your voice recording a clear direction from the outset.
Specialist Note
Room noise and nearby voices can distract from a spoken recording; the Corona’s focused pattern gives you a way to be more deliberate about what the microphone faces. I’d consider it for a podcast or an interview, with the speaker addressing the front of the mic and other sound sources kept out of its pickup area. Its supercardioid pattern is useful when you can control that aim, but it does mean placement matters; don’t treat it as equally receptive from every direction. The dynamic design keeps the choice centred on capturing a voice with a directional microphone. If your recording space is busy, think through where the speaker and other sounds will sit before you begin.
