Tiffen 44HZE2A 4x4 Haze 2A Filter
Tiffen 44HZE2A 4x4 Haze 2A Filter | Helps reduce UV haze
Without a UV filter, distant outdoor scenes can look hazier than they do to the eye. The Tiffen 44HZE2A is a 4x4 Haze 2A filter for photographers and camera operators who want to address that in-camera. Its purpose is to filter ultraviolet light, which can contribute to a hazy look in landscape and daylight images. It suits a setup designed to use 4x4 filters, especially when you want a dedicated UV filter rather than a filter intended to change exposure. Use it when photographing far-off scenery or architecture in bright conditions, where the air between you and the subject can soften contrast. The Haze 2A name identifies the filter type; it doesn’t mean this is a general-purpose effects filter. If your work calls for managing UV haze while keeping the filter choice straightforward, this is the specific Tiffen filter to consider.
Specialist Note
“Does the Haze 2A help with distant haze?” Yes — it’s a UV filter, made for that job. The 4x4 format is the key practical detail: it suits a camera setup that takes 4x4 filters, so it’s worth matching the filter format to the gear you already use. I’d consider it for landscape work or daylight views of distant buildings; frame the scene with the filter in place and let it manage UV haze as you shoot. The Haze 2A designation makes this a focused filter, not an exposure-control option, so don’t choose it when your goal is to darken the image.
