Tilta TA-MBP2-TG Modular 15mm LWS Baseplate Type II - Titanium Grey
Tilta TA-MBP2-TG Modular 15mm LWS Baseplate Type II - Titanium Grey | Extra support for handheld video
During handheld video work, a camera can benefit from a more supportive rig setup. The Tilta TA-MBP2-TG is a shoulder-rig baseplate for that job, giving you a dedicated starting point when you want extra support for your camera. Its 15mm LWS format identifies the rig standard it’s made around, while the modular design makes it a component to consider when putting a setup together to suit your way of working. The Type II designation and Titanium Grey finish distinguish this version. For a videographer building a shoulder rig for handheld filming, it’s a focused piece of rig equipment rather than a general-purpose tripod head. Think of it as part of the support system around the camera: useful when steadier, more supported handheld operation is the goal, and best considered in the context of the wider rig you plan to use.
Specialist Note
The Titanium Grey finish gives this baseplate a restrained look in a camera rig, rather than making it visually busy. More importantly, the 15mm LWS designation makes it relevant when you’re building around that specific rig format; I’d start by matching your planned setup to that standard, then position the baseplate as the support foundation for handheld video. Its modular design makes it a more considered option for someone assembling a rig in stages, rather than looking for a complete support system in one item. It suits videographers who need extra camera support for handheld work. One practical caveat: a baseplate is a component, so plan it as part of the rig, not as a standalone fix for every camera movement.
