Tokina 4x4 Pro IRND 0.3
Tokina 4x4 Pro IRND 0.3 | A one-stop adjustment for controlled exposure
Get a little more control over exposure without making a dramatic change to your image. The Tokina 4x4 Pro IRND 0.3 is a neutral-density filter for photographers and filmmakers who need a modest reduction in light while keeping their setup straightforward. Its 0.3 density cuts the light reaching the camera by one stop, giving you room to use a slower shutter speed or a wider aperture in bright conditions. The IRND designation indicates a filter designed to manage infrared light as well as visible light, which matters when filtration affects colour. Its 4x4 format suits people working with a matching square-filter setup. This is a measured adjustment, rather than a heavy filter for very long exposures; it’s most useful when you want to make a small, deliberate change to exposure and motion rendering.
Specialist Note
0.3 means one stop less light, so if your meter calls for 1/50 sec, you can use 1/25 sec at the same aperture and ISO. That’s a practical nudge for smoothing movement without changing the rest of your exposure. I’d point this filter towards filmmakers and photographers already working in a 4x4 setup who want that small adjustment, especially when they’re balancing shutter speed against available light. The IRND designation is relevant when you want visible-light reduction with infrared light managed too. One stop is deliberately modest: it won’t turn a bright daytime scene into a long exposure, so pair it with stronger filtration when that’s the effect you need.
