TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25 Hasselblad X1D-MOUNT | FullFrame | A fast aperture for expressive portraits
A 90mm short-telephoto prime is the defining choice here: it gives portraits a tighter, more composed frame, and suits event photography when you want to pick out a person from the wider scene. The TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25 is an interchangeable lens for the Hasselblad X1D-MOUNT, with manual focus and a maximum aperture of f/1.25. That wide opening gives you room to work in dimmer light and create shallow depth of field, with your focus placed carefully on the subject. Its 27° angle of view keeps the frame focused on your subject rather than taking in a broad sweep of the surroundings. This is a specialist prime for photographers who enjoy setting focus themselves and want a short telephoto view for portraits, gatherings and other considered moments. It’s less suited to situations where you need autofocus to keep up with rapid movement.
Specialist Note
At an evening reception, a guest pauses beside the room’s soft lights: this 90mm view helps you frame the person without filling the picture with the whole venue. For a posed portrait, I’d start at f/1.25 when you want the background to fall softly out of focus, then take care to place manual focus on the nearer eye. That maximum aperture can also help in dimmer event spaces, though it won’t freeze motion by itself. This lens suits someone happy to focus deliberately; fast, unpredictable action is where manual focus asks for more patience.
