TTArtisan 90mm f/1.25 Nikon Z-Mount | FullFrame | Fast aperture for expressive portraits
The defining optical choice is the f/1.25 maximum aperture: it lets in plenty of light and gives you the option of a very soft background when making portraits. This 90mm short telephoto prime is made for Nikon Z-mount full-frame cameras, with a 27° angle of view that keeps attention on your subject rather than the wider scene. It suits portrait photographers and people photographing events who want a fixed focal length and are happy to focus for themselves. The bright aperture is especially useful indoors or in dim event spaces, where extra light can help you keep shutter speeds up. It also gives you room to choose how much of a portrait stays in focus. This is a specialist lens for measured work, rather than a set-up aimed at fast, hands-off shooting.
Specialist Note
Manual focusing makes the pace more deliberate: you choose exactly where sharpness falls, so it pays to give your subject a moment to settle. For a posed portrait, I’d focus carefully on the nearest eye and use f/1.25 when you want the background to fall away; that wide opening can also help in a dim event room. The 90mm focal length gives portraits a close, focused framing without needing to crowd your subject. Its full-frame coverage makes sense if that’s the format you shoot. My honest caveat is that moving subjects can be demanding with manual focus, so I’d favour portraits and calmer event moments over quick action.
