Urth 67mm Ethereal 1/8 Diffusion Lens Filter (Plus+)
Urth 67mm Ethereal 1/8 Diffusion Lens Filter (Plus+) | Gentle highlight bloom
The 1/8 diffusion strength is the defining choice here: it gives you a restrained softening effect, rather than a strongly hazy look. That makes this filter suited to photographers who want to take the edge off bright highlights while keeping plenty of detail and definition in the frame. It’s worth considering for portraits, where a gentler rendering can feel flattering, or for scenes with small bright light sources that you’d like to soften. The 67mm size identifies the filter diameter, so it’s intended for a lens with a matching filter thread. This is an optical effect, not a lighting fix: the filter can shape the look of light in the image, but it won’t change the light falling on your subject. The Ethereal 1/8 is best when you want the effect to stay subtle rather than dominate the picture.
Specialist Note
Portrait photographers working with window light or bright points in the background are the people I’d point towards this filter. Its 1/8 diffusion is a gentle setting, so you can soften the rendering without making the whole frame look heavily misted; I’d use it when you want a little bloom around highlights but still need facial detail to read clearly. The 67mm diameter is the practical detail to match to your lens’s filter thread. One honest caveat: the effect is intentionally mild, so it won’t give you a dramatic, foggy glow. I’d choose it for a light touch, not a pronounced effect.
