XEEN CF 16mm T2.6 FF PL | Broad views, manual cine control

For filmmaking in tight locations or scenes that call for a broad sense of space, the XEEN CF 16mm T2.6 FF PL is an ultra-wide prime with a full-frame image area and an angle of view of around 107°. It’s an interchangeable lens for video work where you want to include more of a room, set or landscape in the frame without moving the camera far back. The 16mm focal length gives compositions a strong sense of scale, so it can work well for establishing shots as well as close, immersive views. Manual focus puts focus adjustments in the operator’s hands, while the T2.6 maximum aperture gives you room to manage exposure as available light changes. Its PL mount makes it a lens to consider for a PL-mount filmmaking setup. This is a specialist wide view, rather than a general-purpose focal length.

Specialist Note

A confined set can leave you with no room to step back and fit the scene into frame; this 16mm gives you a way to hold onto that wider view. I’d use it for a room-establishing shot or to bring a nearby foreground subject into an immersive composition. Keep an eye on the edges of frame, where the expansive view makes placement matter. The T2.6 maximum aperture gives you some flexibility when the light level is limited, while manual focus suits a crew member who wants direct control over focus changes. It’s best when that broad perspective is part of the visual plan, not when you need a restrained, natural-looking view.
