7Artisans Infinte 85mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount
7Artisans Infinte 85mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount | Shape focused, cinematic close-ups
For tightly framed interviews, portraits and film scenes, an 85mm view gives you room to compose around a subject without making the shot feel wide. The 7Artisans Infinte 85mm T2.1 FullFrame DE-Clicked EF Mount is a manual-focus short telephoto prime for Canon EF cameras, with full-frame coverage and a maximum T-stop of T2.1. It’s made for video and filmmaking, where careful focus and controlled exposure matter. The de-clicked design lets you adjust the aperture without stepped clicks, which is useful when exposure needs to change smoothly during a take. Its 29° angle of view keeps the frame focused on your subject and the details around them. This is a lens for deliberate setups and considered camera movement, rather than quick autofocus work.
Working with an 85mm view
Use the tighter framing to keep attention on a speaker in an interview, or to make a portrait feel composed without including too much of the surroundings. Give yourself space to position the camera and subject, then use manual focus to place sharpness precisely. For moving subjects, plan the focus move as part of the shot; this lens is built around hands-on control, not automatic tracking.
Specialist Note
The aperture control turns without click stops, so you can make a gradual exposure change instead of jumping between fixed steps. That’s especially helpful in a video take where the light shifts. The T2.1 maximum aperture gives you room to work in dimmer settings, though I’d still plan your lighting for a consistent result. With full-frame coverage and an 85mm focal length, I’d suggest it for a seated interview or a portrait shot where you can set the camera position and focus carefully. It’s a manual-focus lens, so fast, unpredictable action isn’t its natural setting; pair it with a measured pace and intentional focus pulls.
