ACT 10m DisplayPort 1.4 Active Optical Cable 8K w/ Connect
ACT 10m DisplayPort 1.4 Active Optical Cable 8K w/ Connect | A longer DisplayPort link for 8K setups
Short DisplayPort cables can leave a screen closer to its source than your room or desk allows. This ACT active optical cable gives you a 10m connection to work with, making it suited to setups where the display needs to sit farther from the device feeding it. The title specifies DisplayPort 1.4 and 8K, so those are the key details to match against your intended setup. It’s aimed at people planning a longer DisplayPort run, rather than anyone who simply needs a short lead behind a monitor. The useful part is straightforward: you can plan where the screen goes first, then route a cable of the stated length between it and the source. There’s no reason to buy extra length if your devices sit close together; this cable makes most sense when distance is the practical issue.
Plan the route before you connect
With a 10m cable, measuring the path matters more than measuring the straight-line gap between devices. Allow for the route you actually want the cable to take, including the distance from each device to where it runs. That helps you judge whether this length suits the room, rather than finding out after you’ve positioned the screen. The active optical description is part of this product’s name; it distinguishes this cable from one described simply as a standard DisplayPort cable. No extra performance figures are included here, so use the stated DisplayPort 1.4 and 8K details when checking the needs of your particular setup.
A practical fit for a distant display
This is a cable for a specific job: linking a DisplayPort source and display when the available distance calls for a longer lead. It may suit a workstation or viewing setup where the screen placement is dictated by the room, not by the shortest possible cable route. Keep the connection simple: identify the DisplayPort link you need, measure the planned route, and compare it with the 10m length. The name includes “w/ Connect”, but that wording doesn’t add a further specification to rely on. If a shorter connection will do, a 10m cable is more than the job requires.
