ACT 3 Meters DisplayPort Cable Male - Male

ACT 3 Meters DisplayPort Cable Male - Male | A three-metre DisplayPort connection

The ACT 3 Meters DisplayPort Cable Male - Male is a 3-metre DisplayPort cable with male connectors at both ends. It’s for anyone setting up a connection between equipment with matching DisplayPort ports, whether that’s at a desk or as part of a home viewing setup. Its defining detail is the cable length: it gives you more room to position connected devices than a short lead would. That can be handy when the display and its source don’t sit right beside one another. The connection type and ends are clear from the name, so you can compare them with the ports in your setup before choosing. There’s no complication in the description: this is a straightforward cable for a DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort connection. The honest point to keep in mind is that the length helps with placement, but the route still needs planning.

Planning the connection

Before arranging the devices, consider where the cable will run: along a desk, behind a screen or around the edge of furniture. A little thought about the route can help you place each device sensibly and avoid leaving the cable stretched across a walkway or caught behind equipment. If the connection needs to pass around an obstacle, include that path in your placement plan rather than judging only the straight-line distance between the devices. This is a simple accessory, so its main job is to bridge the space between two suitable ports. Match the connector type at each end to the ports you intend to use, then decide where the devices should sit. For a tidy installation, plan the cable path before you settle on their final positions.
