ACT USB 3.0 A Male - USB B Male 1.00m

ACT USB 3.0 A Male - USB B Male 1.00m | A direct USB A-to-B connection

Without the right cable, equipment with a USB B socket can’t connect by wire to a USB A port. This ACT cable joins those connector types, with a male plug at each end. It suits anyone who needs a direct A-to-B connection; matching the plugs to the sockets is the key detail. At 1.00m, it’s best when the two connection points are close, such as on the same desk or shelf. The short run can be easier to route neatly when the equipment is nearby. One honest point: a one-metre cable can limit where you place things, so consider the route between the sockets as well as the distance between them. It’s a straightforward cable rather than an adapter with a different connector at either end.

Choosing the right cable

Start by looking at the sockets on the two pieces of equipment. This cable has a USB A male plug on one end and a USB B male plug on the other, so it’s for a setup with a matching USB A socket at one side and a USB B socket at the other. The connector names can be easy to mix up when you’re ordering from a list, so compare the shapes of the sockets rather than relying on a device’s general description. Then think about where the cable will run: along a desk, behind equipment, or across a nearby shelf. A tidy route with some slack is usually easier to manage than a cable pulled tight. If the two sockets are farther apart than the available reach, this particular cable won’t span the gap.
