Atomos A-EYE 4K-12X

Atomos A-EYE 4K-12X - UHD 4K video at 60 fps

Presentations can stay in frame as a speaker moves around the room, while the Atomos A-EYE 4K-12X records up to UHD 4K at 60 fps. This PTZ camera combines AI auto-tracking with a 12x optical zoom, so a classroom lecture, church service or business meeting can be captured without a camera operator following every move. It also records 1080p at up to 60 fps. For a streaming setup, video is available over IP, HDMI, USB-A and 3G-SDI, and the camera includes an NDI|HX3 licence for use on compatible NDI networks. That range of outputs is useful when a room needs to feed more than one type of production or conferencing setup. In a teaching space, the tracking can keep a presenter in shot as they move between the front of the room and a display. At a church or event venue, the optical zoom brings a speaker closer without moving the camera. In a meeting room, IP video and the camera’s remote-control options support a fixed installation that can be operated from elsewhere. It’s a specialist tool for room-based video, rather than a general-purpose camera; its value is in combining tracking, zoom and several production connections in one unit.

Why it is useful

• AI auto-tracking: The camera follows a moving presenter, keeping them framed during lectures or talks. That means a fixed installation can cover movement around the room without a dedicated operator controlling every pan.
• 12x optical and 16x digital zoom: Optical zoom brings a subject closer while retaining the camera’s optical image, useful when the camera is mounted at the back of a room. Digital zoom extends the available close-up range further.
• Record to USB storage: Video can be recorded directly to a hard drive through the USB-A connection. That’s handy when you need a local copy of a class, presentation or meeting as well as a live feed.
• Remote control options: The A-EYE 4K-12X supports IP and RS-485 control, including switching between camera positions. RS-485 operation requires a separately available controller, so include that in your setup planning if you need it.
• Audio connections: An integrated microphone captures sound, and a 3.5 mm stereo line-level input accepts external audio. This gives you a way to bring a separate audio feed into the camera’s stream.
• Selectable video compression: H.265, H.264 and MJPEG are supported. Having these encoding options is useful when fitting the camera into different IP video workflows.
• Power and status: The camera can run from its power adapter or from PoE+ on a supported network. Tally lights provide a visible indication of camera status in a production environment.
