B+W Collapsible Lens Hood 37
B+W Collapsible Lens Hood 37 | Shade the lens from stray light
Without a lens hood, light from a bright window or the side of the frame can reach the front of your lens unchecked. The B+W Collapsible Lens Hood 37 is a simple way to help shade it when you’re working in those conditions. It suits photographers who want a hood they can fold down when they don’t need it projecting from the lens, rather than leave a fixed hood in place. For portraits near a window or outdoor scenes with light coming in from the side, extend the hood and frame as usual; it can help reduce unwanted flare and preserve contrast. It’s a practical, focused accessory, not a fix for every lighting problem: reflections from glass or a bright source inside the frame can still affect your image. The “37” is part of the product name, so it’s also a handy identifier when you’re choosing among accessories.
Specialist Note
For a portrait beside a bright window, I’d extend the B+W Collapsible Lens Hood 37 before composing, especially if the window sits just outside the frame. Its collapsible design means you can fold the hood down when you don’t need that shade, so it needn’t stay extended for every shot. The 37 in the name gives you a clear way to pick this specific hood out of your kit. I’d recommend it to someone who often works with light arriving from the side and wants a straightforward way to shield the lens. Just keep in mind that a hood can’t remove reflections or block a light source that’s in the picture.
