Boya BY-P140 Professional Windshield 140mm
Boya BY-P140 Professional Windshield 140mm | Helps tame wind noise outdoors
Clearer speech in breezy outdoor recordings starts with reducing the wind that reaches your microphone. The Boya BY-P140 is a professional windshield, made for recording situations where moving air can distract from dialogue. It’s a useful accessory to consider for interviews, location video and spoken pieces recorded outside, especially when wind noise would make a take harder to use. Its 140 mm size gives you a specific measurement to compare with the microphone setup you plan to use. That matters: a windshield needs to suit the recording setup, rather than simply being chosen by name. This is a focused accessory, not a microphone or a way to improve every part of a recording. Its job is to help with wind, so it makes most sense when that’s the problem you’re trying to address. For indoor recording in calm conditions, it may have less to do.
Specialist Note
140 mm gives you a concrete size to work with when considering this windshield for a microphone setup. I’d look at it for outdoor interviews or location dialogue where wind across the mic is getting in the way: the windshield is intended to help reduce that noise before it spoils a take. The BY-P140 is described as professional, but the useful point for your decision is still its specific size and purpose, not the label. It suits someone who records spoken audio and wants to tackle wind as a particular problem. One honest note: a windshield can help with wind noise, but it won’t make a gust disappear entirely.
