Canon Lens Hood EW-78 II
Canon Lens Hood EW-78 II | Shade your lens from stray light
Strong light coming from the side can cause flare or reduce contrast in a photograph. A lens hood is designed to shade the lens from light outside the frame, and the Canon Lens Hood EW-78 II is the specific model for shoppers who need that designation. It’s particularly relevant outdoors or near a bright window, where light can reach the lens from an angle. By helping block that stray light, a hood can help you keep the scene looking clear; it won’t remove flare from a light source that appears in the picture itself. This isn’t a generic hood listing: EW-78 II is the model name to look for when that’s the accessory you’re shopping for. If that exact designation is what you need, this is the Canon lens hood identified by it.
Specialist Note
At a 4 p.m. street corner with low sun coming in from the side, I’d use the Canon Lens Hood EW-78 II to help keep that off-frame light from washing across the image. It’s aimed at someone who already needs this particular model, rather than someone browsing for any hood. The Canon name tells you the brand, which is handy when identifying the accessory; EW-78 II is the specific model code to match against your list. For a window-side portrait, keeping the light source outside the composition is a sensible way to get the hood’s shading benefit. It won’t suppress flare from a lamp or sun that’s actually in the frame.
