Caruba HB 112 For Nikon Nikkor Z DX 12 28mm f/3.5 5.6 PZ VR | A dedicated hood for your wide zoom

Caruba HB 112 is the lens hood specified for the Nikon Nikkor Z DX 12–28mm f/3.5–5.6 PZ VR, a zoom lens with a wide 12–28mm range. It suits photographers who use that Nikon lens for travel, interiors, landscapes or everyday video and want a dedicated hood in their kit. A hood is used to shade the front of a lens from stray light, which can help when a bright source sits just outside the composition. It can also provide some cover for the front of the lens while you work, though it’s no substitute for careful handling. The HB 112 is named for this particular Nikkor Z DX lens, rather than for Nikon lenses in general. Keep it with that lens for moments when you want shade close at hand as the light changes; it won’t change how you frame or expose your pictures.

Specialist Note

Photographers framing wide interiors, coastlines or travel scenes with the 12–28mm zoom are the people I’d point towards this hood. At 12mm, you can compose a broad view; if sunlight is just outside the frame, the hood gives you a way to shade the lens without changing that composition. Move towards 28mm when you want a tighter view, and keep the hood fitted as you reframe. The lens’s f/3.5–5.6 aperture range remains exactly that with the hood on: it won’t make a dim room brighter, so you may still need to adjust ISO or shutter speed. Its appeal is specific pairing, not a change to the lens itself.
